Apprenticeships are the gateway to unlimited opportunities in the building and construction industry. It is largely up to the individual how far they take their career once they have completed their apprenticeship.
While many apprentices go on to become long term and highly successful employees, large numbers use their trade skills to develop their own small or large business. Others use it as the base for further study and career development into professionals or management roles within the industry.
Incolink provides a range of services to introduce school leavers to the career opportunities in the industry and people currently working in the industry who may wish to change career path. While not a provider of training itself, Incolink facilitates training opportunities for building industry workers through part-funding of individuals to obtain industry training.
Incolink assists with specific programs and resources:
‘The Victorian Building and Construction Industry Skills, Training and Careers Guide’
“The Victorian Building and Construction Industry Skills, Training and Careers Guide” is a detailed book published by Incolink and regularly updated with information on career opportunities and related training in the building industry.

Out-of-trade Apprentices
Incolink helps out-of-trade apprentices find employment by registering their availability on an Apprentice Register. Referrals are then made to interested employers as work opportunities arise, enabling them to gain the experience they need to complete their apprenticeships
Careers and Employer Promotion Officer
The Careers and Employer Promotions Officer promotes the industry as a career option for secondary school and TAFE students and liaises with employers, encouraging them to take on new apprentices.
